Taking one of Jane O’Brien’s Ennis Walking Tours is unquestionably the best possible introduction to the town, its history, and some of its bizarre legends. Jane puts on a highly informative tour, peppering the official history with anecdotal tales that transform sleepy Ennis into a truly intriguing destination… I won’t give away the entire tour; suffice to say it’s fascinating ***.Frommer’s Ireland
A walking tour of Ennis spices up a portrait of the town as it was and as it is with local lore and political history. Jane O’Brien garners special praise for her gentle yet commanding presence and spirited storiesLet's Go
Named second after the Cliffs of Moher in the top six stops you should make in Irelands West.”The best way to sample the towns history is to join one of Jane O’Brien’s walking tours, which are like a “Journey through time”. Described with great warmth and wit, Ennis’ colourful past is brought alive – peppered with tales of famine, poverty, murder and rebellion.”RyanAir Magazine
With her red hair and friendly personality, she must be a hit with the tourists.”Clare Champion

It was my privilege to be guided by Jane around the medieval town. Jane is a warm and engaging raconteur with a wealth of stories, and her PhD studies in history are evident in the depth and breadth of her knowledge. A wonderful way to experience Ennis.Leon C - Australia
While there are many lovely country towns in the west of Ireland, you sometimes need a person with a great understanding of local history and the ability to communicate it. Jane is that person. In showing you how Ennis grew through the years, she gives great insights into life in medieval Ireland and links it with the today’s bustling town. A highlight of our recently holiday.Trip Advisor User, Dublin
Jane breathed life into all the historical aspects of the town. Clearly stated, she flowed from one historical period to another seamlessly, interjecting humor to bring it all alive. So much fun!Trip Advisor User, Saint Louis, Missouri.
Really did a great job of telling the history of what is still very much a living, working town. Ennis was our first stop on a tour of Ireland. Jane really set the stage and the bar for the rest of our trip. Highly recommend.Dolores C, Pennsylvania
You haven’t seen Ennis until you do this tour … a definite must do!Trip Advisor User
Our first afternoon in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, we took a walking tour with Jane O’Brien. Our group was small and friendly, and Jane led us on an interesting, informational, witty, and beautiful walking tour of Ennis. Jane knows her stuff. She is working on a doctorate in history so she has chops, but she also has a great sense of pacing and of reading her audience. Her tour was paced beautifully. She stopped at particularly important spots, explaining the history by giving us the right amount of information to aid in comprehension, but not so much that it felt like a warm-up to her dissertation. Jane was warm, friendly, interested in her audience, and extraordinarily fond of Ennis. Take an hour and a half from your day, pay 10 euros, and let Jane beguile you with stories of her lovely city.Adrienne H
